It’s the little things in life that should make you smile…
What makes me smile:
Meeting new people from all over the world. I had such a great conversation in my class this morning with a girl from India. She hasn’t seen anyone from home for 8 months now! And I thought I had been gone for awhile..
Cheese. The grilled cheese sandwich I made for lunch today was delish! I love French cheese!
Kenny Chesney… or any country on my iPod on the way to class.
Walking past the garden next to my apartment.
My landlady’s name. She pronounces Biche, “Bitch.”
Baguettes. I will miss eating them everyday when I go home!
Calling the pigeons here “penguins.” I think it makes me hate them less.
It’s getting warm. My mood is so contingent on the weather.
Speculoos or Nutella on anything. Speculoos ice cream = heaven.
Taking pictures.
When the metro is pulling up just as I get on the platform. Perfect timing.
The guys who play accordions on the metro. And once I actually saw a pair of teenagers who rapped in French… that just made me burst out laughing!

Things I miss:
My dogs. Seriously, if someone shipped Lucy over here I think I could stay forever.
Having a car. Will I even remember how to drive when I get back?
My friends and family, of course.
Walking into a fully stocked kitchen. The frenchies buy their food each day.
Walking down the side walk without the constant fear of stepping in dog poop. They obviously do not have a great dog poop removal service to clean up the mess.
Dryers. My clothes don’t smell quite as fresh and come of the drying rack hard as cardboard.
Real size fridges. What is this mini fridge business? And for that matter, I miss food that doesn’t expire in the next two days. Preservatives may be bad but they make things so much easier. Thanks America, look what you’ve done to me.
Mexican food. Could someone please send me a Chipotle burrito?!
Having a backyard… or just green grass that I’m allowed to walk on.
From Paris with love! xoxo.
