After Mardi Gras, it was time for a much needed vacation. The original plan was to head to the happiest place on Earth, Disney!! But after a few too many dollars spent, we decided a long weekend in Santa Rosa Beach would better serve our needs.
We rolled out of town Thursday morning after I stopped at Surrey’s for a delicious and well-overdue brunch. I meant to stop by Surrey’s a long time ago since there is so much hype around the place. It wasn’t spectacular but it’s a cozy environment with pretty good food.
Santa Rosa Beach is about five hours away and by the time we got there is was the evening. We headed out for a ladies’ Valentine’s Day dinner at AJ’s and headed to the upstairs deck for some drinks afterwards. Turns out we were the only single ladies out on Valentine’s in a bar full of men. Talk about drinks on drinks on numbers.
We spent lots of time lounging on the beach, shopping at the outlets and relaxing on the boat.
With Napoleon as our captain we set off to catch the sunset.
It was much colder than the last time we visited in August.
Later we headed out to Baytowne Wharf and couldn’t seem to escape Mardi Gras. The previous night, AJ’s was draped in beads and now we were surrounded by Fat Tuesdays daiquiris and Abita Amber.
Oh and did I forget to mention? Maggie’s wearing Lily 🙂
Much needed vacay. I can’t wait to go back when it’s warm!
