If there’s anything I love it’s a themed party, so how do you think I reacted when I found out I was invited to Yelps Jet Set Fête, a travel themed party to celebrate the yelp elite in DC?
Naturally, I was beyond thrilled!
What I really enjoy about Yelp is the focus on discovering the best a city has to offer through recommendations worth sharing. It is a great resource for locals and travelers alike to explore a new place and uncover hidden gems along the way.
So when I was invited to join in on the fun, you better bet I jumped at the chance to taste, sip and experience all that is on offer in DC with others who get just as excited about reviewing a new restaurant or business as I do.
The event was hosted at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel and after wandering down a series of seemingly never-ending escalators we made our way into the ballroom. Music was already pumping and the throng of attendees was thick despite it only being the elite preview hour when we arrived.
I could hardly contain my excitement at all the fun treats and toys to sample. Food was delicious and I fell for just about every salted caramel flavored goodie.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the night was meeting representatives from other countries. I have been interested in teaching abroad for a while now, so it was great to meet a representative for the Japanese Exchange and Teaching program (JET). And I was giddy when I got the chance to speak with representatives from the Embassy of Indonesia. I’d hop on a plane to explore that country in a second. After speaking with them, I’m thinking Southeast Asia needs to return to the top of my bucket list stat. Any excuse, right?
Overall, I had an amazing evening filled with fun and delicious food. I will be sure to share more information as I explore the new restaurants I discovered. Thank you YelpDC for hosting such a great event and inviting me along for the night!
