Brittany and I caught the earliest flight to New Orleans on Thursday. Karen and her boyrfriend Zach had arrived the night before so we hopped into a cab and were off to pick them up before heading to our rental in the Lower Garden District.
EAT PO-BOYS AT PARASOL’S
SHOP DEFEND NEW ORLEANS
I immediately wanted to buy everything but settled on a pin and a graphic tee that you might spot in tomorrow’s post.
WALK THE GARDEN DISTRICT
Continuing towards Uptown we wandered past the delicious COMMANDER’S PALACE (25 cent martinis with lunch y’all!) and into LAFAYETTE CEMETERY NO. 1. We got there just before the last walking tour began but opted to wander for a few minutes on our own before ducking out to get on to the real business – shopping the boutiques on Magazine.
We could have spent hours in the MAGAZINE ANTIQUE MALL but eventually headed on to explore STORYVILLE, FLEURTY GIRL, and FUNKY MONKEY. There are endless options for shopping on Magazine St. but these stores had fun items to add to our arsenal of Mardi Gras outfits.
CATCH HAPPY HOUR AT DAT DOG
We hung around long enough to be confused for regulars before ordering a variety of bratwursts, wieners and veggies dogs (for me) piled sky high with every topping on offer. You can’t go wrong with Dat Dog – even the buns are delicious.
Do you love the Garden District? Did I miss one of your favorite spots?
