In order to stay as comfortable as possible I like to bring a big scarf to use as a blanket, a travel pillow, an eye mask, dramamine (the struggle is real) and big fuzzy socks. I remember for my birthday one year, my friend bought me a pair of custom photo socks and these socks always come with me when I’m travelling! They’re super comfy and they look great too! An eye mask is also an essential in my opinion. All of these items come in handy throughout the trip as well, not just for the journey.
I recently received the most amazing pillow from Linda and Ana at Comfy Commuter. Guys, I’m going to go ahead and admit that I’m wearing this pillow as I write this post because it has become my new favorite companion, perfect for propping up and doing work in bed. I’ll save my spiel about how uncomfortable normal travel pillows are and just let you know that the difference is real. Can’t wait to bust this out on my flight to Nola, even if it’s short.

Lastly, I never go anywhere without lip balm and my calendar. These Revlon balm stains are my favorite and they are perfect for travel because they add lasting color and moisture which makes up for the fact that I usually wear no other makeup when I fly. My go to colors are romantic and sweetheart. A good pair of sunglasses are also essential. If you don’t yet have any sunglasses ready for your travels I suggest you purchase some straight away, our eyes are important! It’s not just for fashion, although if you want fashionable sunglasses you could look at various custom sunglasses online, this way no one can accidentally steal your sunglasses at the beach or pool as they will be easily recognizable!
I thought I’d also include my flight outfit because what’s nicer than having someone pack your carry-on and pick out your outfit for you? I always start with a comfy pair of shoes (usually the biggest one’s I’m packing but today I left the emergency rainboots in my suitcase).
Converse will do the trick! And they are the perfect shoes for getting me through the parades of Mardi Gras on sunny days. And since you already saw inside my bag, you know my trick… I’ll swap my shoes for warm socks during the flight. In alll fairness, any pair of socks will do, as they are a lot more comfortable than keeping your shoes on during a 6 hour flight. They could be plain black ones, trainer socks or even the pair of custom face socks that you were once gifted on your birthday. Either way, as long as your comfortable, that’s all that matters.
I keep my flight outfit as simple and comfy as possible: black leggings, a pullover sweater and a watch to keep me on time. You can always add more layers beneath this combination for colder weather.
Now that I’ve got that all packed it’ll be a breeze through security! Obviously these two were a big help in getting the job done…
