For a long time after I studied abroad, Paris was my favorite city. I’ve learned that my favorite place tends to have a lot more to do with the experiences there than the actual place itself. So in effect, Paris will always hold a special and exciting place in my mind. But New Orleans, in the mean time, has gone and stolen my heart. It has come to feel like home but always offers something new to discover. I can’t get enough.
Visiting in April was perfect. Although we picked a weekend in between the annual spring festivals – French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest – the city was still abuzz. The weather was fairly humid thanks to the spring showers but nothing compared to the sticky wet of summer. Hot during midday with a calming cool settling over the city at nightfall. To take advantage of the beautiful weather we walked all over the Quarter, took the streetcar to the Garden District and passed the days outside.
What is your favorite city?
