Solo travel has been on my mind. Something I’ve intended to try but had little motivation to actually do. But most of my most frequently asked questions from readers and friends relate to solo travel, so I decided to get advice from a few experts. Their recommendations ended up being so inspiring and reassuring that I decided it was about time I took my own solo trip.
I started playing around on Skyscanner and realized this would also be a great time to check off #4 (go to the airport and book the cheapest flight to someplace new) on my 25 for 25.
Trouble is, a quick Google search validated my fears – booking a last minute flight at the airport is practically impossible.
As a compromise I decided to book the cheapest flight to anywhere new on my next available weekend. Fingers crossed that I wouldn’t end up somewhere like Akron, Ohio, I plugged in my search and jumped with joy when a $68 roundtrip to Chicago was my first option. I’ve been itching to go there!
In the few weeks since booking my flight I haven’t allowed myself to collect any recommendations or even book a hotel. I decided I’d wait to prepare until the last 24 hours before the flight to help simulate the whole buying a ticket at the airport experience. Well now I’m flying TOMORROW morning at 6 am!!
I’m really excited but also a little stressed. The closest I’ve gotten to packing is throwing a pile of clothes and toiletries on my bed.
So do you have any recs for me? What should I do once I get to Chicago and where should I stay?
I’ll be there for three days. Also, I may get lonely so drop me a line or follow my adventure on Instagram. It’ll be kind of like we’re traveling together! <– see what I did there?
