It’s hard to believe I got back from my trip in Southeast Asia two weeks ago! I promise I have (a lot) more posts coming about that – like how my cousin packed everything she needed for 2.5 weeks into a small backpack, what it was like to parasail with minimal directions and a language barrier and how I messed up driving a motorbike in Saigon. (I’ve just been struggling to edit all the photos since my laptop screen cracked.)
I had to jump right back into work after we returned, but then a few days later winter storm Jonas came and shut everything down. All though we were snowed in longer than I expected it was a great opportunity to rest and relax.
Now I’m packing my bags and leaving again, but this time for Mardi Gras in New Orleans!
I mentioned this a few months ago when I booked my tickets. We are going February 3-6 because the flights are always cheaper the week before Fat Tuesday. And my favorite parades are Thursday night through Saturday morning. After that things start to get way too crowded for me.
We are flying Southwest and booked a rental with Homeaway in the Lower Garden District just blocks from Magazine and St. Charles – perfect for catching the parades. I can’t wait to eat Dat Dog, walk around the Quarter, catch up with my Nola friends and dance to some live music. I am hoping to catch Rebirth Brassband on Friday night and catch another Muses shoe (I’ve got two now!).
Have you ever been to Mardi Gras? Or maybe you’re going this year?
