I’m going to New Orleans this weekend and I’m so excited. While spring is just starting in the DC area, the weather has long been warming up in Nola. The first thing I always do when packing for a trip is check the weather (duh, right). For this weekend I’m looking at thunderstorms Friday through Sunday (yay) before the forecast switches to partly cloudy. All weekend it should be warm with highs around 80 and lows around 65.A good formula includes a light hooded jacket, shoes that are comfortable for walking, light basics for layering and flowy dresses. Since spring weather is temperamental I’ll include one pair of jeans just in case. If you scroll to the bottom of this post, I’ve made an easy checklist so you won’t forget anything while you pack!

Now about that printable checklist so you can pack for your own trip to New Orleans (or anywhere in the south, really). I stick to a pretty basic formula and cut down the items when I’ve already picked out the my outfits. Because I’m packing at the last minute this weekend, I’ll bring it all so I can mix and match when I get there.

Wi really like all the outfits shown, but love the blue/white striped dress.
It’s super comfortable for travel too
I have always wanted to go to New Orleans! The history is so interesting and the culture are fascinating to me! Thanks for sharing now I will know what to bring!!
New Orleans is such a great place. I highly recommend a visit!
I love the striped dress 🙂
Thanks Judy! I found a similar one for $15 at old navy!
Great tips! I live “down south” and I can attest that this is pretty much exactly what you need for a trip to visit.
Thanks! I remember when I first moved to New Orleans someone said I obviously wasn’t from there because I “wore too many clothes.” I was so confused but completely understand after my stint of living in the south.
Light pink floral dress is such a great piece!
Isn’t it gorgeous!
I have always wanted to visit NOLA. Such the perfect essentials. I have always been an over packer but slowly I am finally learning! 🙂 xo
I used to over pack quite a bit too. I’ve noticed that it’s nearly impossible to over pack if I pick out my outfits beforehand.
I like your packing list! It’s awesome and very well summarized. I like doing checklist and preparing earlier for the trip. Greetings:)
